From Sandra Nicol

Karine, JP, Rueben, Scott and Sandra hiked to the Brew Hut on Saturday morning via the new winter route up Roe Creek (accomplishing some trail clearing on the way). The weather was too unfriendly to work until late afternoon, but we got a few hours in before dinner. Sunday morning was spent up at the site getting chilly and doing more foundation work.

Results:

  • Fine survey completed
  • Last boulder moved into hole, and all boulders centered
  • Electric drill used to drill all remaining holes for rebar
  • Cardboard forms for concrete pouring were custom cut for each pier
  • Box for mixing concrete was constructed from scrap materials

Foundation to do:

  • Investigate strength of saddles, and perhaps buy stronger ones
  • Clean rocks and drilled holes in preparation for rebar gluing
  • Use rocks and/or concrete to fill gaps on undersides of boulders
  • glue rebar to boulders
  • pour concrete footings
