Synopsis

Beginner friendly snowshoeing trip. We'll be heading out (hopefully not too far) for a weekend and camping overnight. Destination is Panorama Ridge / Taylor Meadows (Next to Garibaldi Lake).

To answer some of the questions floating around:

We'll be going regardless of snow, make sure you bring something to attach your snowshoes to your pack.

Skiers are welcome. You have to put up with snowshoe tracks. There'd better not be any bashing of snowshoes though.

We shouldn't be heading into any avalanche territory.

One last thing, if people have any group gear, generally its a good idea to list it next to your name on the wiki. Like:

1. Conrad Koziol (Stove, tent)

Date

November 29th - 30th

Pretrip Meeting

November 26th, 7:00pm in the clubroom

This may have to be moved depending on whether there is a slideshow.

Experience Required

Not much by the way of experience is necessary. Winter camping skills are useful, as is having been on an overnight trip before.

Things to bring

The equipment list above covers what you need to bring. The ski specific stuff should be left off in favor of snowshoes and a pair of boots. Here are the basics:

  • Snowhsoes
  • Boots
  • Warm Clothes
  • Sleeping bag and a mat
  • Water bottle(s)
  • Food, eating utensils

Stove and tent groups should be arranged ahead of time. It's usually most efficient if its done within car groups.
