Introduction
This is the next level for people who have already taken the AST1 course. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than taking a course open to the public.
It is a good idea for anyone who is interested in travelling in the back country to take an avalanche course. Avalanche course students learn about some snow science basics, terrain, route finding, snow stability testing and rescue.
This years course is being done by Canada West Mountain School
The course will be exactly the same as the one found here: http://www.themountainschool.com/avalanche-advanced.html. Note that AST1 (or equivalent) is a prerequisite.
It is required that students read the material from CWMS as well as go through the online course before the classroom session.
Dates and Locations
Field Course
- January 23rd - 24th: Location TBD
- January 30th - 31st: Location TBD
Note: Arrange your own rides
Cost
The cost per person is $500. This includes GST. If you need backcountry passes please add another $80 per person for 2 passes.
- Must be paid before December 14th 09
The cost is based on a course with 8 people. If less than 8 people sign up the course will get cancelled and you will get your money back.
No refunds After you have paid there is no refunds unless the course if cancelled (if you can't go, you will have to sell your spot to someone else)
