VOC Discounts

Being a member of the VOC gives you many priviledges, including a variety of discounts at local and international (ok, well, maybe in the future) establishments!

Here is a list of places to check out!

• Richmond Olympic Oval (ROO): You go to the front desk or email the facility, and register as a member if you have not already. Members get about 10% off their facility use/monthly rates.
• https://www.expertvoice.com/home: Before you pay full price for some outdoor gear check this website out. ExpertVoice is a platform for employees of businesses and certain groups to get access to “pro-deals” for a large variety of companies (usually in the outdoor sphere). The VOC has an account. If you are a VOC member search and apply to: "UBC Varsity Outdoor Club". If you are a member and have lead trips/on exec also apply to: "Univ. of British Columbia Varsity Outdoor Club”. Brands like Black Diamond, Mammut, Scarpa, etc. as well as many other offer pro deals to the VOC through this platform. You have to be authenticated manually by someone on Exec so it might take a fews days before you are approved. Please be patient.
• https://outdoorprolink.ca/ This is also sort of like ExpertVoice but will also give you access to more brands. You need to apply to OutdoorProLink and get approved. The VOC has nothing to do with the approval process. Identifying yourself as being apart of a university outdoor club and your activity within the club should help you in your application. You can submit a proof of membership by logging into the VOC website and going to your account page to find a link to download the membership document. What brands are available is dependent on what the website is offering to you individually, but it also has a wide range of popular outdoor brands.
• http://www.grandwallequipment.ca/From season to season, the VOC might organize a group order where members of the VOC can fill out a form indicating what they'd like to order from GrandWall at wholesale prices. Prices range but we get access to around 40% off depending on the product and stock. GrandWall has been a huge supporter over the years so we're happy to order from them.
• https://themountainschool.com/ This is a guiding company that also offers discounted AST 1 and AST 2 trips to members. Access to the discounts are only possible once registered as a current member of the VOC. Trips will be advertised on the Trip Agenda (https://www.ubc-voc.com/tripagenda/upcoming.php) in autumn for all upcoming trips in the winter.
• Intuition Liners The best thermo-moldable ski (and mountaineering) boot liners going. Tell them you're with the VOC and they might give you a break. Legend has it that providing nude photos of yourself in outdoorsy locations can help.
• Famous Foods Famous Foods is the place to buy dried foods and ingredients for your lightweight backcountry meals in Vancouver. You should be able to get a 10% discount for large expedition purchases (> $100).
• ACC Student members of the VOC can get a free ACC membership, which gives them a 15% discount at the Canmore clubhouse, amongst other benefits. Some more details are available on the membership page. (updated 2018)
• MEC Occasionally the VOC organizes a special club shopping night at MEC where we can get a 10% discount on all purchases. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for information about the next event. (updated 2018)
• Blicard Industries Blicard is providing a 15% discount to VOC members. This Vancouver company has belay glasses and other climbing accessories. See the message board thread for the coupon code.
• Halfmoon Sea Kayaks During shoulder season kayak rentals are 25% off for VOC members. They are located at the south end of Sechelt Inlet. (last updated 2018)
