This page is for backcountry cooking recipes. The focus should be on meals that can be made on a hiking stove from mainly dry ingredients, and using at most 2 pots.

Smores without the stick (AKA Fondu style!)

Ingredients: butter marshmallows chocolate (or syrup) Toothpaste (if you want them to be minty smores) Graham crackers

Put butter in a pot over the fire and melt it. Melt the chocolate, marshmallows and toothpaste in the pot. Remove pot from heat and dip away (with graham crackers... and eventually when it cools off enough you can just scrape and pick and the gooy goodness... beware this will take a bit of work to clean) Mmmmmm.

Black Sticky Rice Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup black sticky rice (a combination of white sticky rice and wild rice also works)
  • 3 Cups water
  • 2 packages of dried coconut milk (50g each)
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Boil the rice for a half hour. Then stir in the coconut milk and sugar. Enjoy the sweet mush.
