WHITE WATER KAYAKING POOL SESSIONS

This is now a weekly event.

Every Wednesday at the UBC aquatic centre!!!! OK, not every, and not always wednesday. Check the messageboard for the latest updates.

Session is from 8:30pm to 10pm, in the heated outdoor pool.

The cost of an 1.5h session is 100.02$ and is split between everyone who shows up at the pool on a particular evening.

Costs

Cost will be split between the people there but if we get more than 10 folks to come out it should be roughly $10-15 per person.

Details about the session

The sessions now have two parts.

For beginners and those wanting to work on specific skills, club members will have time to go over the basics of rolling and some flat water boat handling with direct instruction. For those just want to get exercise and play the games can begin right at opening.

For the second half of the time a larger organized game of polo will be the main focus. Or if the group is big enough then we'll divide things up and have play offs. The Polo part is more fun then you might think, it gets your mind away from over thinking the rolling process and is good practise for working on boat control and balance.

Gear???

Kayaking is somewhat geartensive. However you don't need all the fancy stuff if you're in a heated pool. You will need your own boat/paddle/and spray skirt. (you might want some nose plugs too.)

gear borrowing:

I know there are people in the club who boat but who might not be able to come out on a given week so try to borrow/lend gear (it's club spirit) Below is a list that people with boats lend out can add their names to, ideally with

David Roscoe - has boat, paddle, skirt to lend. dwroscoe@gmail.com or 778 384 4257

if you have any questions direct questions please contact Devon at devononthetrail@gmail.com

Hopefully we'll see some of you this Wednesday and in the weeks to come!!!

yeah paddling!
