Revision as of 21:23, 22 August 2007
The purpose of this page is to share tips on good places to get food after (or before) a trip. Please do not include your favourite Vancouver restaurant in this list - the point of it is to offer suggestions for places to stop and eat on the way home from a trip. Student budgets (and tolerance of stinky mountain travellers) should be taken into consideration.
Sea to Sky Corridor
Horseshoe Bay
Ok this is almost in Vancouver, but sometimes you drive through Squamish too early to stop.
- Trolls
- 1950s style greasy fish and chips. Located on the waterfront in Horsehoe Bay 1 block west of the ferry terminal.
Squamish
- Howe Sound Brew Pub
- This pub is located in downtown Squamish, at the far end of Cleveland Avenue - 10U 488734E 5504780N (WGS84 datum). It caters specifically to the outdoor adventure crowd, so any level of stinkyness is acceptable. They have a great view of the Chief, but service is usually slow. Tuesday are half-price pizza, Thursdays are half-price appetizers, and Fridays are $9.95 jugs.
- Shady Tree Pub
- Right next to the highway in the Garibaldi highlands (northernmost traffic light in Squamish). Expensive pitchers, but they have half-price appetizers on Thursday.
Whistler
Finding affordable food in Whistler can be tricky, as most resturants are rather expensive.
- Splitz Grill
- A hip, affordable burger bar on Main Street in Whistler (across the street from the 7-11). Lineups can be long on a busy day. There's metered parking right out front, but you may have to walk a while for free parking.
Pemberton
- Pony Espresso
- The Pony Espresso is at 1392 Portage Rd. That's on the left side when driving into downtown just before reaching the traffic circle. They have tasty pizza.
Fraser Valley
Chilliwhack
Hope
Rolly's: The is a good breakfast place located in Hope, with lots of seats. Rolly`s is on Water Street by the Chevron. Take the main exit into hope. Go straight through two lights and head down Water ST, turn right when you see the chevron. Rollys is behind the chevron. They have good pancakes.
