The GPS datum for the waypoints listed in the trail description may be wrong. Only the hut location was verified, but both my group and another BCMC group found the hut waypoint wrong. The datum is listed as WGS84, but the hut waypoint appears to be in NAD27. Unfortunately we didn't verify the other waypoints along the way so either just the hut is wrong here, or they all are NAD27. :I set my GPS to WGS84 and checked the waypoints at the bridge over Roe Creek, and at the R200 turnoff. They seemed to be quite accurate (within a few metres). I didn't check the other waypoints carefully, but when I got to the hut, the waypoint listed for Brew Hut was quite far off (>200m). I took my own (WGS84) waypoint at the hut, which was 1672m, UTM 10U 0486311, 5543106. | :I set my GPS to WGS84 and checked the waypoints at the bridge over Roe Creek, and at the R200 turnoff. GPS Waypoints
The GPS datum for the waypoints listed in the trail description may be wrong. Only the hut location was verified (by Peter), but both my group and another BCMC group found the hut waypoint wrong. The datum is listed as WGS84, but the hut waypoint appears to be in NAD27. Unfortunately we didn't verify the other waypoints along the way so either just the hut is wrong here, or they all are NAD27. Evan Morris 22:00, 31 March 2008 (PDT)
- I set my GPS to WGS84 and checked the waypoints at the bridge over Roe Creek, and at the R200 turnoff. Peter E 22:05, 31 March 2008 (PDT)
Trail Work
Is any of the stuff listed in the "Summer 2007" section going to happen before it snows? I forget whether we got permission to cut down larger trees for this trail... if so, there is no grizzly closure here :) Scott Webster 23:22, 22 August 2007 (PDT)
- According to my most recent conversation with Tim Hoskin, we won't have a legally established trail until the fall. Until then we have permission to cut trees up to 6", build bridges, etc. I've scheduled a trip general purpose Brew workhike for September 8-9. Hopefully we can also paint the windows that need painting and maybe get firewood ready for winter too. Scott Nelson 14:05, 23 August 2007 (PDT)
