Mark Grist (VOC Alumni and BC Parks Ranger) is organizing a work party for the northern part of the howe sound crest trail, around deeks lake. It will be a day trip on October 5th.
This is a good opportunity to get a work hike in if you need to borrow gear for Longhike or other VOC trip. The main task is cutting back enthusiastic blueberry bushes, but there may be some tread work as well. North Shore Hikers (another club) are also taking part in this work party, so it might be possible to leverage them for extra rides if car space is short.
See here for the message board discussion.
