Archive:Meghan's Powfest Burton Hut 2009

Synopsis

I want to escape the city and go skiing. I have never been to the Burton Hut, so I thought of giving it a try. It is questionable whether or not the lake can be travelled on. Apparently a group travelled on the lake January 16-17th so we could possibly be able to get to Burton hut. If we can't make it to the hut we can always camp at Battleship Island or Taylor meadow, these are not hut though. Also I was inspired recently to have fondue. So there will be a cheese and chocolate fondue! This is an informal trip and no instruction will be offered. You need to have avalanche awarness and it know how to ski/snowboard or maybe snowshoe (if you are fast).

Equipment List

Because there is no guarantee we will make it to the hut I will leave it up to you, whether or not you feel like bringing a tent. If you don't bring a tent (or a tent fly for a light weight option) you should be prepared to sleep in a snow cave.
Also: To participate in the fondue either bring cheese, bread, chocolate or fruit. You might also choose to bring mulled wine and/or hard alcohol of your choosing and instruments of music and merriment.

Soft limit of 15, the hut fits 10 but 15 with a squeeze. Anyone beyond that is welcome, but should be willing to camp. (Of course there is "always room for one more", and there is space to sleep on the floor downstairs, but if the hut will be full, bringing tents is encouraged.)
