Since Roland is coming we'll have at least one 4x4 and can shuttle to the end of the road. This means the hike in is 3-4km and 500m of elevation gain, almost all of it on a nice trail. If you're in reasonable shape this isn't too strenuous (although, we'll have some things which need to get carried up so you could always make it more strenuous by putting lots of heavy stuff in your pack...).

June 13-14.
There isn't really anything up at the hut other than shelter - so you'll need to bring food, sleeping bag, stove, etc. (or share with someone who is). See here for a complete list.

Optional pre-trip meeting Wednesday June 10th, at the intersection of Tolmie and the ocean (ie. Spanish Banks, frisbee) at 7pm.
The hut is too far away (~450km round trip) to go for just a day, so we'll be up there the whole weekend leaving Vancouver early Saturday and returning late Sunday.

== To Do List (this round) ==

# Clear boulders from the road so it's passable by high clearance 4x4s.  If we drove up Friday evening and camped, we could spend early Saturday morning trundling boulders off the road.  The slide is already barely passable; another hour of work should make it good.
==Date For Round 1==
# Vanquish the mildew. This involves Behr #62 mildew killer and Behr #63 wood preparation concentrate, a scrubbing brush with a long handle, plus maybe rubber gloves.  I think we apply #62 sparingly, then wash it off with clear water from the stream, then apply #63.  Anybody have experience with this?  We have already hauled up the #62, #63, two brushes, and a long handle.
# Double glaze the windows.  We need to haul up some screws and clips for attaching the windows.  We have already hauled in the 40 lbs of Lexan.
# Fix the roof.  The roof already got mostly fixed during a fast-job in the fall.  We've just got to touch it up all the way.  Will involve lots of expanding foam, asphalt caulking, and some Al sheet.
# (possibly) install Roland's Solar Device (TM).  Device is 2' x 8' and weighs 25 lbs.  If we don't have enough spare people to install the solar air heater component, we can at least install the fan component, so that it will be sucking air through the Hut and drying it in preparation for Round 2: painting.  Roland is the Solar Device Committee.

Synopsis

We have already had Round -1, where Meghan and Roland (mostly Meghan) hauled in various supplies and materials for the renovation.

Round Zero will happen the week of June 1st, when four people will go up, haul in various supplies, do work, hang out, etc. We will post a report here describing what we did and what remains and what needs to be hauled in.

There isn't really anything up at the hut other than shelter - so you'll need to bring food, sleeping bag, stove, etc. (or share with someone who is). See here for a complete list.

The hut is too far away (~450km round trip) to go for just a day, so we'll be up there the whole weekend leaving Vancouver early Saturday and returning late Sunday.

Sturdy Trooper, I'd really like to drive up Friday so we can start early Sat and avoid some heat, but his only works if everybody else drives up early as well, if I am the only 4wd ferrying everybody.
