We want a wood burning heater; people who roll around in the snow a lot learning to ski, benefit from getting dry before going out to do it again. Heaters improve the humidity and the air quality in the Hut. There is a large pile of wood up there (the old hut) waiting to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

The heater should be very small; the Hut is small and it is well insulated.

All wood heaters sold in BC require the USA EPA approval. This makes them expensive. Most wood heaters sold in BC are more for decoration than for heating; they look like colour TV's that give off heat. Interestingly, Alberta does not require EPA heaters.

Roland could build a heater for $20, but we do not want to have anything less than the safest, most urban-dweller-friendly, zero maintenance, heater up there.

We can buy an EPA heater with a glass front, special price $800. Expect to spend additional $400 for chimney and a pad to put it on.

Should we look around for a used heater, which could cost a lot less?
