Synopsis

We have already had round -1, where Meghan and Roland (mostly Meghan) hauled in various supplies and materials for the renovation.

Round zero will happen the week of June 1st, when four people will go up, haul in various supplies, do work, hang out, etc.

Date For Round 1

June 13-14.

Optional pre-trip meeting Wednesday June 10th, at the intersection of Tolmie and the ocean (ie. Spanish Banks, frisbee) at 7pm.

To Do List (this round)

  1. Clear boulders from the road so it's passable by high clearance 4x4s. If we drove up Friday evening and camped, we could spend early Saturday morning trundling boulders off the road. The slide is already barely passable; another hour of work should make it good.
  2. Vanquish the mildew. This involves Behr #62 mildew killer and Behr #63 wood preparation concentrate, a scrubbing brush with a long handle, plus maybe rubber gloves. I think we apply #62 sparingly, then wash it off with clear water from the stream, then apply #63. Anybody have experience with this? We have already hauled up the #62, #63, two brushes, and a long handle.
  3. Double glaze the windows. We need to haul up some screws and clips for attaching the windows. We have already hauled in the 40 lbs of Lexan.
  4. Fix the roof. The roof already got mostly fixed during a fast-job in the fall. We've just got to touch it up all the way. Will involve lots of expanding foam, asphalt caulking, and some Al sheet.
  5. (possibly) install Roland's Solar Device (TM). Device is 2' x 8' and weighs 25 lbs. If we don't have enough spare people to install the solar air heater component, we can at least install the fan component, so that it will be sucking air through the Hut and drying it in preparation for Round 2: painting. Roland is the Solar Device Committee.
