Access
Drive highway 99 to Whistler Village. Turn right off Highway 99 at Village Gate Boulevard, then left at the 3 way stop at Blackcomb way. The entrance to the parking is the next right. If you are just here for the day, park anywhere. However if you are parking overnight head to lot 4, which is quite a ways from the lifts. Walk back to the Village where you can take ski lifts up either Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain or head up the Singing Pass Trail under your own power.
The route begins at the top of either Harmony or Symphony lifts in the Whistler Ski area.
Route
Take the Whistler Village Gondola, then either the Peak or Harmony Chairs. Ski down Burnt Stew Trail, traversing underneath the north face of Piccolo. Follow the cat track up a small hill then southeast to the base of the climb up Flute Peak. At the top of Flute, leave the ski area boundary and continue over Oboe to Singing Pass. Climb southeast to a minor col west of Russet Lake. The cabin (Himmelsbach Hut) is located at the north end of the lake.
Hazards
- Avalanche hazard on all open slopes
- Route finding problems if the ridge is whited-out.
