Trip description

The theme is 'Intro to Backcountry Skiing'. Yet another trip going up to the Diamond Head area, but this time we'll continue past Red Heather to stay overnight at Elfin Lakes Shelter. This is an excellent beginner-friendly destination, and new-to-skiing folks are highly encouraged to come! One-way trip distance is 11km, and the cost is $10 to stay in the shelter, $5 to tent. Trip size will be limited to 3 carloads in order to minimize faff.

Gear Required

You'll need a pair of skis, boots, skins, and poles to transport you up to the shelter. All other required gear can be found on the ski hut trip gear list.

Pre-Trip Meeting

The pre-trip meeting will be held on Wednesday November 24, 2010 @ 6pm in the VOC clubroom. Rides will be formalized then. If you cannot make the pre-trip meeting, please contact Doris Leong, or she will assume you are not coming on the trip. You should definitely make the meeting if this is your first trip, or you're not sure what you're doing...
