The VOC is replacing it's old fleet of White Gas Coleman Stoves with new propane powered stoves. These stoves are equiped with 10,000 BTUs per burner and a rust resistant aluminum-steel cook top.

Fuel Requirements

The stoves are rated to last up to 1hour and 30mns with both burners on high using a single 16.4 oz propane cylinder.

Canister Etiquette

In order to avoid the Huts from becoming a haven for empty propane canisters we ask that you follow these guidelines:

You bring up a canister:

>> Consider using the partially-full canisters at the Hut first before your own.

>> If you do not completely use your canister feel free to leave it at the Hut for others to use. If you notice an empty canister left behind, take it out with you.

>> If you do completely use a canister, please do not leave it at the Hut.

You do not bring your own canister:

>> Feel free to use any partially-full canisters at the Hut, but if you use it up, bring it down from the Hut when you leave.

Other Propane Coleman Appliances

Up at Phelix a very generous group of Bachelors temporarily fixed one of the bridges on the trail and donated their Propane Coleman Grittle to the Brian Waddington Hut. If these are popular with guests at Phelix we may consider getting them for our other Huts as well.
